Creamy Beige - Rustic Green Fan / Scallop Honed Limestone Mosaic Tile

A fan mosaic in two limestones: a creamy beige body with every scallop outlined by a border of rustic green, honed flat. Where a single-stone fan relies on shadow to show its curves, this one draws them in colour, and the pattern stays legible across a whole room as a result.

That border is doing structural work for the eye. A fan is a series of overlapping arcs, and without a tonal break the overlaps are ambiguous: the brain can read the same surface as scales pointing up or scales pointing down. Outlining each arc removes the ambiguity, so the scallops resolve immediately and consistently. It is the difference between a texture and a pattern.

The green is the unusual part. Its colour comes from mineral content in the original sediment rather than from any surface treatment, and it shifts between olive and something nearer sage from block to block, so a later order will not match an earlier one precisely. Buy the full quantity at once, with an overage.

Both stones are limestone, which is why the curved cuts stay clean; an even, fine grain takes an arc without chipping along it. Honing holds every surface matte so nothing competes with the drawing. Because the green border shows any misalignment instantly, allow time for a proper dry set-out before fixing, and seal the sheets before grout goes anywhere near them.
