Brick format at tile scale means an elongated rectangle laid in a staggered bond, giving a wall the horizontal run of a metro tile in real stone. Ours is Atlantic Grey honed marble, a mid-grey with fine movement that suits the format — heavy veining across a staggered bond tends to look restless.
It is a wall specification more than a floor one. The staggered joint forgives a substrate that is slightly out, and the long format visually widens a narrow room. If you want the same effect at a smaller scale, the brick mosaic sheets do the same job with more grout line and more grip.
