Platinum Grey Tumbled Marble Hexagon Mosaic Tile 23x23

A 23 mm piece is smaller than a single fragment of the crushed-ice pattern, so each hexagon carries one part of it and no more: some pieces come out nearly white, some nearly slate, most somewhere between. What arrives on the floor is not a pattern but a distribution, a mid grey assembled from pieces of many values. Tumbling then abrades every face and softens the whole thing further.

The result is the plainest small hexagon in the range, and a useful one. It reads as an even grey field with fine tonal life in it, which is what a floor usually needs to be when the walls, the sanitaryware or the joinery are doing the talking.

Underfoot it behaves the way any one-inch honeycomb does: roughly twice the joint length per square metre of a two-inch sheet, a broken surface that forgives an uneven substrate, and enough flexibility to bend over a shower former. Marble is calcitic, so seal before grouting and keep cleaning neutral.
