Silver Shadow Polished Marble Basket Weave Mosaic Tiles

In a traditional basketweave, pairs of rectangles turned at right angles leave a small square gap wherever four pairs meet. Historically that gap was filled with a contrasting piece, and the resulting dot does two jobs: it marks the repeat, so the eye can find the rhythm of the pattern, and it stops the weave reading as an undifferentiated field. Remove the dots and a basketweave becomes surprisingly hard to see. This version keeps them, in a dark marble against the pale grey.

Silver Shadow itself is a dove-grey stone with fine organic veining and warm earthy undertones that keep it from feeling clinical. Polished, it reflects, which suits a pattern built from many small faces set at right angles to one another, since each direction catches the light differently and the weave stays legible even from across a room.

The reflection argues for walls rather than floors, particularly wet ones. Marble is calcium carbonate, and on a polished face acid etching shows more plainly than on any other finish, so keep cleaning neutral.
