Botticino Fiorito Honed Marble Wall & Floor Tiles

Botticino Fiorito, honed, in a large rectangular format for walls and floors. The second half of the name is the useful part: fiorito is Italian for flowered, and it describes the figure, which is soft cloudy mottling scattered across a creamy oyster ground rather than veins running in a direction.

That distinction governs how the stone should be used. A strongly veined marble has an axis, so tiles must be laid with the vein direction considered, off-cuts often cannot be rotated, and a badly planned floor shows the mismatch immediately. A flowered figure has no axis at all. Tiles can be turned any way round, off-cuts go back into the run, and the surface still reads as continuous. Across a large floor or a full wall that is the difference between a straightforward installation and an exacting one.

The colour sits in warm territory, creamy oyster with white mottling and fine crystalline flecks, which makes it a quieter partner for timber, brass and warm paint than a grey marble would be.

Honing is the right finish for a stone whose interest is textural rather than graphic; a level matte face lets the mottling read without competing highlights. As a calcitic marble it etches on contact with acid, so keep cleaning neutral and seal the tiles before grouting.
