Tumbled stone wall and floor tiles
Tumbling at tile scale is mostly a travertine specification here, with the occasional limestone and marble piece. Coming out of the drum the tile has lost its sawn arris and gained a shallow chamfer all the way round, so it sits in the floor with a soft shadow at every edge instead of a hard line.
That shadow is the reason to choose it and the reason to plan for it. A tumbled floor tolerates a substrate that is fractionally out of true, because no single edge is sharp enough to catch the light and give the lippage away — but the joints have to be grouted wider to suit, and a narrow modern joint will look wrong. It is the natural partner for a garden room, a boot room or a period hallway.
